Made the trek down to Hayling as I managed to get out of the previous comitments that I had for the weekend
Wind was westerly do it was cross shore blasting straight out and back. managed to do my first planning gybe on the open sea in the swell (The tide was in and the hayling sand bar gave no protection)
The wind was little up and down so it was a matter of timing when to go out. I timed it wrong big time at one point! Had a bit of a squail come through then it dropped to nothing, not even enough fly the rig let alone water start., Too much swell to be able to uphaul so I starting swimming. I think I was nearing a mile and a half out. I wasn't the only one swimming counted the RNLI pick up at least 4 people who were swimming. I was offered a lift but I was heading in the right directiong and the tide wasn't taking me so declined the offer, Ive never been rescued in the uk so have an image to keep up. After swimming for a while the swell eased off abit so was able to up haul and blob back to shore.
Time to call it a day after that
